Defenders

Dani Carvajal – 7.5/10

Dani Carvajal continues to run himself to the ground for the team. The Spanish international was attacking one moment and back on defense the next. He was making a vital interventions throughout the game.

He had two successful tackles, two clearances, and one interception in the match.

Eder Militao – 8/10

Eder Militao got the opportunity to start in place of the injured Raphael Varane and he did not disappoint. He was arguably the best player on the pitch.

The Brazilian showed his incredible defending abilities multiple times by stopping Inaki Williams in one-vs-one situations. Militao was a rock at the back for Los Blancos and moped up after Ramos and Marcelo a couple of times.

The former Porto defender had three clearances, won three aerial duels, and three successful tackles in the match.

Sergio Ramos – 7/10

The captain had a shaky game at the back. He was not at his best and he often got dragged out of position trying to cover for Marcelo in the first half. Ramos also struggled to keep up with Inaki’s pace and got bailed out a couple of times by Militao.

However, he improved in the second half, and Athletic Bilbao hardly got a sniff at goal. He also scored the winning penalty for the second match in a row.

Marcelo – 7/10

Most of Bilbao’s chances in the first half came from Marcelo’s side of the field. The Brazilian left-back got caught up-field numerous times, and Inaki had a field day running attacks from the right.

Whatever Zidane said at halftime to the’ vice-captain worked. Marcelo was positioned better, and he improved in his buildup contribution in the second half. He also earned the penalty that Ramos dispatched for the winner.
