3. Final Mentality

Ever since the league restarted, the manager and the team have been talking about how the rest of the games are all going to be finals. While we have heard this talk before, Real Madrid has walked the talk since the restart.

Zidane’s record in finals when he’s managing Los Blancos has been perfect so far. He has managed nine finals and won all of them. When it comes to the big games, the manager has instilled an immense self-belief in the team and ensured that the team wins either through tactical masterclasses or just grind out victories.

This mentality in the finals has been carried over by the team in La Liga since the restart. They’ve played like true Champions, suffering a lot in search of narrow wins and ensuring that they get the job done. Whenever the team seems to be in a pickle, they manage to find a way to win. When the team seems to be heading for a draw, they manage to score a goal through a penalty or individual brilliance.

While many might feel that VAR has favored Real Madrid in getting penalties, the Whites just find a way to score. As Vince Lombardi said, “Champions create their own luck.” Los Blancos have had that self-belief and don’t panic even when the game is scoreless around the 70th minute.

This final mentality, that allows Real Madrid to just shithouse a win is what makes them the favorites for the title.
