Dani Carvajal – B-

Before the league was temporarily suspended, Dani Carvajal didn’t always look like himself on the pitch. He had good performances that were followed by surprisingly poor outings and his future at the club was questioned. After the return of play, he took the pitch every single time and more often than not, we saw the real Carvajal – the one who makes the runs, dribbles, and gets back into position before the opposition really have a chance to do anything. Let’s hope he keeps this up!

Alvaro Odriozola – D

Alvaro Odriozola spent the first half of the season with the club before Zidane believed he had seen enough and agreed to loan him to Bayern Munich for the rest of the season. During his time at the club though, he got a few opportunities but failed to impress the manager or the fans. I think it speaks volumes if the manager was okay with letting go of his only natural right-back replacement for the remainder of the season.

Nacho Fernandez – C

Not his greatest campaign with the club but he wasn’t all that bad whenever called upon. With the arrival of Eder Militao, Nacho’s playing time was understandably lessened but Zidane did play him whenever he got the chance to. Unfortunately for the Spanish defender, as Los Blancos were finally preparing for the return of the season, Nacho had an injury that left him out of nine games out of the eleven.

Raphael Varane – A

By far our best defender of the season. Raphael Varane struggled with injuries in the past seasons but it seems like that’s officially behind him as he was able to consistently play at a high level throughout the campaign and cement his position after a slightly worrying transfer window last summer where he supposedly was thinking of looking for a new challenge.
