Likewise, Bayer Leverkusen have another excellent young player on the defensive end in Edmond Tapsoba, who signed with the Bundesliga club from Portugal in the winter. Tapsoba has a five-year contract and transferred for 25 million euros, so he will not come cheap in the next few years when he is available for transfer.

But by then, he could be one of the best center backs in the world. He could be Sergio Ramos’ replacement and someone to monitor as a world-class starter alongside Raphael Varane.

Tapsoba has made an immediate impact for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga after signing. He is light years ahead of all his teammates defensively, even Jonathan Tah. His reading of the game, consistency, and composure are uncanny for a 21-year-old, and fans can’t forget that he scored four goals in Liga NOS before his transfer.

He actually upped his tackles per game from 1.4 to 1.7 in the Bundesliga and averaged a staggering 2.0 tackles and 3.0 interceptions per game in the Europa League.

Tapsoba is progressing quickly and is ready to make an even bigger name for himself in the Bundesliga next season. Real Madrid need to keep watching. Tapsoba’s 91.4 pass completion percentage at Bayer is a sign he could be a perfect fit for Los Blancos technically.
