4. Can Marco Asensio be a true star?

Marco Asensio is a fan favorite, and he reminded the world of his quality when he scored with his very first touch after returning from a torn ACL. The Spanish international had strong performances aside from that dream match against Valencia, scoring a total of three goals since his return from injury in nine appearances – six coming off the bench.

In total, Asensio had four goal contributions and completed 87.6 percent of his passes, per WhoScored.com.

Real Madrid cannot make any major attacking purchases this summer, and they are holding out for Kylian Mbappé as their game-changing signing in 2021. So for 2020-2021, they need someone to step up as a scorer, and that someone can be Asensio, whose sweet left foot is capable of scoring some of the best goals in the league.

Asensio brings more than goals, of course. He’s a good passer and can create chances for Karim Benzema and others. But at the end of the day, if Asensio is to become the next star at the Santiago Bernabéu, Los Blancos will need him to be an important secondary goal-scorer for the team. He will be a major key to Real’s success in both La Liga and, especially, the Champions League next season.
