Real Madrid were given a boost by their young stars in the 2019-2020 season.

Although the 2019-2020 season didn’t end as Real Madrid would have liked with a poor Champions League performance against Manchester City, the team still finished as champions of La Liga for the 34th time.

They were buoyed by a veteran core of stars like Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, and Thibaut Courtois, but several of their young players shined brightly and made a huge impact. Here are three young players who helped the team the most in 2019-2020.

LW Vinícius Júnior

It all starts with Vinícius Júnior, who was one of the team’s best players when the calendar flipped to 2020, playing a major role as a regular player with Eden Hazard out due to two different ankle injuries. Vinícius was especially vital in the 2-0 win over Barcelona, scoring the first goal and providing relentless attacking down Barça’s vulnerable right side.

Per WhoScored.com, Vini averaged 3.2 dribbles completed per 90 minutes, with only Hazard having more per 90. His confidence grew as the season went on, and he proved to be a difference-maker in several games, including El Derbi after his substitution.

There may be rumors about Vinícius, but do not pay them much mind. He is important to the team for both the present and the future, and the best is yet to come. Look no further than his chipped goal against Mallorca to see a glimpse of the goal-scoring ability that could arise in the 2020-2021 season.
