Our writers look back and give their final thoughts on Real Madrid’s 2019/2020 season in the roundtable.

The writers at The Real Champs got together for a roundtable analysis of Real Madrid’s 2019/2020 season and answer five questions. They discuss the following question in part five of the roundtable.

What are your final thoughts on Real Madrid’s 2019/2020 season?

Parshva Shah

Overall, a memorable season. We won the Supercopa de Espana and La Liga, although I would have liked Real Madrid to progress further in the Champions League. But that’s okay. After the sort of horror show last season, winning a La Liga with pretty much the same squad is an incredible achievement.

Ali Al-Hassan

I’m happy. The ending to the season was disappointing, but we cannot let that shadow what we have done. The league was our priority, and we got it. Now, the players will need to rest and come back for what will definitely be another difficult season.

Nithanth Ravindran

A good season even if we were knocked out in the round of 16. It’s important to remember that the team is going through a transition period, and while Zidane did have reinforcements, only one of that reinforcement made a huge impact. Two trophies in this situation qualify as a good season.

Ben Sundock

Overall, I would say this was a great season. As I see it now, Real Madrid is transitioning from the old guard – Ramos, Modric, Benzema, Kroos – to the younger guard – Asensio, Rodrygo, Vini, Valverde. So, to win the league and the Spanish Super Cup are both great accomplishments, but this team still has a lot of work to do if they want to be winning the Champions League every season (clearly).

Kevin Parvizi

I have to say that the 2019-2020 season has been an extremely successful one for Real Madrid because I did not think they would win the La Liga title over Barcelona before the season started. Almost everything that could have gone wrong did, but the young players stepped up, and the core of veteran players was excellent. Zinedine Zidane is undoubtedly the right man for this team, as he has proven time after time.

Prasanna Baidya

Overall, this was an excellent season. The 2019/2020 season saw lots of ups and downs for Real Madrid and the world of football. But ultimately Los Blancos won their 34th La Liga title. What Zidane managed with the resources he had is exceptional.

Exiting from the Champions League in the manner we did does leave a bitter taste, however very few expected this Real Madrid to win the league at the start of the season, so I’ll take finishing the season with two trophies. Now, to build on this success and come back stronger in a few weeks for the next season!
