3. How will Real Madrid line up in the midfield?

Real Madrid Femenino will have a lot of interesting position battles for the upcoming season, but the most intriguing shuffling could occur in the midfield. The only surefire starter from last season seems to be French midfielder Aurelie Kaci.

She’s one of the most decorated midfielders in European football. Kaci has played for three of the biggest clubs in the world in PSG, Lyon, and, most recently, Real Madrid crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid. Her experience and ability to direct play from midfield make her one of Las Blancas’ most important players for the 2020-2021 season.

But who starts with her? Brazilian midfielder Thaisa is another experienced midfielder who has played in some big games during her career, but what if Las Blancas want more creative options?

Kosovare Asllani is penciled in as Real’s star No. 9, but she can easily play in midfield, in a creative role up top. But Las Blancas also signed a couple of players who can fulfill that role in Maite Oroz and Teresa Abelleira.

Oroz and Abelleira are two wonderful young players who are stars in the making. Abelleira is a menace to handle on the ball and scored 10 goals in 27 appearances for Deportivo La Coruna before joining Real Madrid. She could be the Primera Division’s top breakout star in 2020-2021.

Meanwhile, Oroz is an ideal No. 10 who can impact the game in so many ways. Las Blancas would be wise to find a way to get her on the pitch.
