The transfer rumors around Real Madrid right winger Gareth Bale are finally starting to heat up, as Tottenham want to reunite with the Wales international.

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale hasn’t scored in La Liga since he bagged a brace against Villarreal last September, but he could very well produce at a high level again with a different club. The Premier League seems to be an ideal landing spot for the 31-year-old, who has developed a cold relationship with the Madrid fanbase and his manager Zinedine Zidane.

Bale can’t play over Marco Asensio and Rodrygo Goes, but he’s too good to be on the bench. Therefore, Real Madrid have no choice but to sell him, especially since they need to save on his wages, which are around 15 million euros per season.

Manchester United have been linked to Bale, but Tottenham look like an even stronger option. After all, Bale played for Spurs and was a star there before moving to Real Madrid as the most expensive transfer in the world.

A loan deal between Tottenham and Madrid would make the most sense, with Real eating up some of Bale’s salary to make the move more financially reasonable for Daniel Levy.

A move to Tottenham from Real Madrid is ideal for Gareth Bale

However, Matt Law and Sam Wallace of the Telegraph report another possible Gareth Bale deal between Real Madrid and Tottenham. And that transfer would be a swap between the clubs where Bale would move back to North London and Dele Alli would get his own change of scenery in La Liga.

But it wouldn’t be a straight-up swap forever. Bale would join Spurs, who would cover half of the player’s expensive wages. Then, Alli would go to Madrid, and Madrid would have to cover ALL of his wages. So since Alli wouldn’t start for Real, it’s hard to see this happening. Alli is a wonderful player, but acquiring him on loan would make little sense.

A move to Tottenham would be ideal for Bale, and Spurs would be open to it. But swapping Alli for Bale sounds like a bold move for the club. Jose Mourinho could do great things with Bale, but, over the long term, he and Alli could build something special.

Alli scored eight goals with four assists in a decent 2019-2020 season, but his first three years with the club were truly special. The England international had 10 goals and nine assists in 2015-2016, a whopping 18 goals and seven assists in 2016-2017, and nine goals and 10 assists in 2017-2018.

A “Raumdeuter” akin to Thomas Muller, Alli is a versatile and intelligent playmaker who can score goals and get assists. Fitting him into Real Madrid’s lineup would be tough due to the player’s need to stay central.

Bale for Alli? It’s probably never going to happen, and it’s hard to see Real wanting to take on his salary after dumping off Bale’s wages.
