Real Madrid midfielder Guti was one of the best passers of his generation, and he knows about the star quality it takes to succeed at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Already, Real Madrid fans are fantasizing about the possible 2021 summer transfer signings. There is a belief that the club hasn’t yet scratched the surface of its potential, and they could return to being the best club in European football with one or two big signings, specifically in the attack.
The legendary Guti has weighed in on who he thinks would help Real Madrid reach that next level, and he has urged the team to sign PSG superstars Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
Here’s what Guti told Goal.com in an interview before El Clasico:
"“I’d sign Neymar and Kylian Mbappe for Real Madrid and for Barcelona I wouldn’t sign anyone, just for Griezmann to stay.”"
Of course, the last statement was made in jest, as Antoine Griezmann’s start to life at Barcelona has not been ideal in spite of his world-class ability.
Kylian Mbappe and Neymar would be the biggest names for Real Madrid to sign
Guti has certainly shouted out two massive names, as Mbappe and Neymar would quite literally be the biggest Galacticos for Los Blancos. Neymar is the best player in the world right now, while Mbappe is the dream transfer target for Real and the most valuable player in the world. There wouldn’t be a transfer that would make more sense than the French star.
Real Madrid need goals, first and foremost, and Mbappe could provide buckets of them. He’s also had three assists in his first four Ligue 1 appearances of 2020-2021 to go with four goals, so Mbappe can also help set up other players. That could bode well for not just Vinicius Junior or Rodrygo Goes, but also for another possible Galactico in 2022, Erling Haaland.
Signing Neymar doesn’t seem feasible, but there are always rumors linking Florentino Perez and the Brazilian superstar. If Los Blancos could have an outside shot at swinging a deal and bringing Neymar to the Bernabeu, surely they would explore it. Neymar has become more of playmaker as his game has advanced, and he can play centrally behind. the striker or out wide.
