Real Madrid had many ups and downs this year but looking at everything, it was still a great year for the Los Blancos.

2020 has been a different year for everyone. The pandemic has stopped the beautiful game for some time. 1) Supercopa de España 2020

The Super Cup win for Los Blancos was a boost of confidence in the squad. The Super Cup was held in Saudi for the first time. Earlier it was simply a two-legged tie between the winner of La Liga and the winner of Copa del Rey. In this new format, instead of two teams, four teams are playing for the trophy.

In the 2020 edition of the Super Cup, held in Saudi Arabia, the four teams that participated were Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Valencia, and Atletico de Madrid. The format was simple – two semifinals and a final. The first semifinal was played between Real Madrid and Valencia. Real Madrid beat Valencia by three goals to one. In the other semifinal, Atleti beat Barcelona.

In the final, Real Madrid beat Atleti on penalties 4-1 after a 0-0 draw in extra time. It was a great match till the final whistle as both defenses were rigid. The moment of the match was that tackle by Fede Valverde on Alvaro Morata, termed by Atletico manager Diego Simeone to probably be a professional foul. This cup brought great confidence in the squad and the team played some good football overall, using the five-man blueprint in midfield.
