Forwards

Eden Hazard – F
This was supposed to be his year but so far, it’s still the same story as last season. His comments after the first season gave the fans some hope and something to look forward to but the Belgian has continued to struggle with injuries and just when he finally seems like he’s getting into form, he spends another month or so on the table. He has only scored twice this season and unfortunately, things don’t look like they’ll be getting any better anytime soon for Hazard.

Karim Benzema – A
He has continued to be the extremely dependable Karim Benzema. The French attacker has shown us that he’s not going anywhere as he continues making it almost impossible for Zidane to bench him. Benzema has been sensational so far and he’ll need to keep up his form as Los Blancos reach the difficult part of the season.

Marco Asensio – D
Another player who has disappointed is Marco Asensio who seems like a shadow of his old self. This isn’t for a lack of trying but we can only see glimpses of the Asensio that we all fell in love with during his 14 appearances this season (including as a substitute). In the past couple matches, we have seen an improvement and if that continues then he could potentially end the season on a strong note.

Lucas Vazquez – A
What a turnaround! Is it fair to say that Lucas Vazquez has been the surprise of the season so far?He went from almost being sold in the summer to being benched consecutively to impressing as a right-back to impressing as a right winger! The Spaniard has impressed Zidane enough to be one of the first names on the starting lineup and deservedly so. His athleticism and eagerness are a joy to watch and he has continued to fight hard for that contract extension.

Luka Jovic – F
A painful grade to give especially given his lack of playing time but Luka Jovic has been too involved in off-field issues that is looks like Zidane has all but given up on him. The Serbian has struggled with injuries, illness and even problems with the authorities and it looks like things may not be improving anytime soon. He needs playing time to show that he deserves to be here and with time, he will probably get it but the question is: How long is Jovic willing to wait?

Vinicius Junior – C-
One of our biggest threats going forward is Vinicius Junior as his speed and abilities are good enough to take on the best defenders. However, his finishing as continued to be atrocious and his decision-making is usually questionable when it comes to the final touch. We tend to forget that he is only 20 though and has a lot of time to reach the heights he definitely can reach.

Mariano Diaz – D
Got a golden opportunity to prove himself with Karim Benzema and Luka Jovic out injured and even though he was able to score a goal, he wasn’t really able to what he needed to. In all fairness, it will take A LOT to convince Zidane or any of the fans that he’s good enough to start ahead of Benzema or in place of him during some matches.

Rodrygo Goes – C
A season of ups and downs so far for Rodrygo Goes but just as soon as he was able to have a couple consistently good performances, he found himself injured and will be out for a couple months at least. Let’s hope he comes back strong and ready to help the team continue fighting for titles.
