Real Madrid secures a draw at home against Real Sociedad after a late equalizer from Vinicius Junior. Los Blancos will consider it as losing two points as they dominated the first half and created multiple goal-scoring opportunities throughout the game. La Real managed to put on some pressure in the opening ten minutes of the second half and eventually broke the deadlock in the 54th minute through Portu’s header.

Zidane introduced Vinicius, Hugo Duro, and Rodrygo in the second half in search of the equalizer. Real Madrid got the goal in the 89th minute when Vinicius latched on to Lucas Vazquez’s cross to score the equalizer. The game ended 1-1 at the final whistle.

Here is how the Real Madrid players performed.

Thibaut Courtois – 6.5/10

Courtois did not have much to do in the match. He made one save and was not at fault for the goal.

Lucas Vazquez – 7/10

Vazquez was partially at fault for Real Sociedad’s goal as his giveaway in the midfield started the move. However, his positioning in defense was strong and provided an assist for Real Madrid’s equalizer.

Raphael Varane – 7.5/10

Varane and Nacho continue to be excellent center-back pairing for Real Madrid. They compliment each other well and keep putting out massive performances. Even when Sociedad was putting pressure early in the second half, Varane and Nacho stood strong and took care of anything that came their way. Neither of them was at fault for La Real’s goal. Varane completed four clearances and won two tackles, per Whoscored.com.

More from The Real Champs

Nacho Fernandez – 7.5/10

Nacho once again put on a solid display alongside Varane. He won three tackles and completed two clearances in the game.

Ferland Mendy – 5/10

Mendy failed to defend Portu on Sociedad’s goal, and his decision-making on the night while in the attack was often faulty.

Casemiro – 6/10

Casemiro had suboptimal night. His defensive performance was not at the level we are so used to from the Brazillian. Moreso, he found himself in multiple goal-scoring positions with a game-high five shots, and none of them hit the target.

Luka Modric – 6.5/10

Modric did not have the best of night. He combined well with his teammates, but his passing lacked the high quality we are so used to from the Croatian.

Toni Kroos – 7/10

Toni Kroos had a strong first half. Real Madrid controlled the game and created multiple chances under his command. However, the German failed to maintain the same level of order in the second half. He also struggled to create much through his setpieces.

Marco Asensio – 3/10

Marco Asensio continued his poor run of form with another underwhelming performance. He had a great opportunity to turn things around in the first half when Mariano’s effort rebounded to him off the crossbar. He turned around nicely to get a shot off, but his attempt got blocked.

Mariano Diaz – 2/10

Mariano Diaz offered absolutely nothing in attack for Real Madrid against La Real. He had one good opportunity to give Los Blancos the lead, but his header from inside the six-yard box hit the crossbar. He only had 12 touches in the game.

Isco – 7.5/10

Isco got his second straight start and made a case for himself to get more game time.
The former Malaga midfielder was the best of the front three on the night. He had four key passes, completed two of two dribbles, and won three duels.

Substitutions

Hugo Duro – 2/10

Duro replaced Mariano in the 60th minute but did not fare much better. He only had four touches in the match.

Vinicius Junior – 8/10

Vinicius came on in the second half and scored the equalizer late to give Real Madrid the draw.

Rodrygo – 6.5/10

Rodrygo made his first appearance following an injury that kept him of action for about three months. He looked lively and combined well with his teammates.

Fede Valverde – N/A

Valverde got 15 minutes on the pitch as he made his first appearance back from injury. His intelligent backheel pass to Vazquez opened up space for the Spaniard to cross the ball for Vinicius’ goal.
