Monaco DM Aurelien Tchouameni

Last year, we briefly saw Aurelien Tchouameni linked with Real Madrid, and he has gone ahead and exploded in the 2020-2021 season. Benoit Badiashile is a nice center back target for Madridistas to consider, but his teammate in midfield has now become THE player on Monaco to watch in 2021.

Tchouameni is setting a new bar each and every week in Niko Kovac’s side. Even though he is just 21, the French international is establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1. There remains a lot of discussion around Eduardo Camavinga as a future priority, and there should be. But Tchouameni is another midfielder in the league whom Madridistas should think about.

According to WhoScored.com, the 21-year-old has 3.5 tackles per game and 1.7 interceptions per game, so his numbers are actually even more impressive than Renato Tapia’s. And he adds a lot more to the attack than Tapia, as he’s scored twice with two assists, compared to zero goals and one assist in the league for the Peruvian international.

Tchouamni won’t be cheap as his stock continues to rise, but for his talent level, he could be cheaper than expected. For example, Transfermarkt says he’s worth 16 million euros. Surely, Monaco would ask for more than that, but his low evaluation tells you that Tchouameni remains underrated in comparison to the levels he is reaching at Monaco in 2020-2021.
