Cristiano Ronaldo is under contract for one more year at Juventus, and it honestly seems unlikely for him to be transferred. But it is not impossible for him to move either. The one club that could sway Ronaldo into leaving the current project in Turin is his old club, Real Madrid. If he wants out, which could end up being the case, then Los Blancos would be the clear favorites.

Of course, Real already have their eyes on furthering their youth project by signing Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe instead of rolling the dice on producing a “sequel” with the 36-year-old Ronaldo. But if neither a Haaland nor Mbappe deal can be pulled off by president Florentino Perez, then Ronaldo enters the frame as a legitimate alternative.

His 31 million euro wages could jeopardize Real’s chances of signing Haaland or Mbappe, but they become more palatable if Los Blancos are desperate after swinging and missing on the two young Galacticos. Then, Cristiano Ronaldo is seemingly the next best option.

If Ronaldo were to re-join Real Madrid in the summer 2021 transfer window, he would bring with him a quality that has not deteriorated appreciably. Sure, he’s lost a step as a dribbler, but he remains one of the world’s most lethal goal-scorers with nearly a goal per game in Serie A this season for an atrocious, by their standards, Juventus side.

Who would benefit the most from a Ronaldo reunion at the Santiago Bernabeu? Let’s look at three standouts who would surely relish the opportunity to play with “CR7”.
