Real Madrid will spend the majority of their efforts in the summer transfer market on signing an attacking superstar who can finally give the team another reliable goal-scorer outside of Karim Benzema. But with other needs across the squad, Real have also been linked to midfielders and defenders prior to June.

Eduardo Camavinga is one impressive prospect whom Real have been closely linked to since his breakout performance early in the 2019 season against PSG. The Rennes midfielder’s favored manager has since departed the club, making it seem likely that he will push for a move this summer with one year left on his contract. And Real Madrid have long seemed like his preferred destination.

According to a report from Augustin Martin of AS, Eduardo Camavinga wants to learn from Zinedine Zidane. The legendary French national team player and former Galactico is the key reason why Camavinga wants a move to the White House this summer. Camavinga believes he can take the next step in his promising career by receiving guidance from Zidane.

Martin goes on to state that Camavinga’s future will be determined by Zidane’s. That is to say, if Zidane is not Real Madrid’s manager for the 2021-2022 season, then it would appear Camavinga would not move to Real. But if Zidane is the manager, then it seems he would try to pressure Rennes to sell him to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Even with Zinedine Zidane, it won’t be easy for Real Madrid to make space for Eduardo Camavinga this summer

Based on everything we’ve heard, it would be a shock if Zidane is not still Real’s coach next season. Despite the team falling behind in the league, they are still in the title race and are alive in the Champions League. There have been injuries and some dreadful results, but Zidane has done a good job with a squad that really isn’t good enough. We’ve hardly seen a less talented Real Madrid side than this one, specifically the attack.

Signing Camavinga this summer won’t be easy due to the need to save for the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, but it is entirely plausible for Real to acquire him. He isn’t ready to start for Los Blancos, but Camavinga probably knows that. Playing time would help him the most, but Camavinga seems to revere Zidane so much that he may actually be OK with a rotational role with Real, learning the ropes from not just Zidane but also the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Casemiro.

Camavinga continues to be a name for Madridistas to monitor in 2021, and it is quite interesting to see how much he reportedly values Zidane and how much he wants to tie his future to the French football icon.
