Rodrygo Goes is going to be a problem

Vinicius Junior has excelled for Real Madrid in the past couple of months, destroying the speculation that he could potentially be traded to PSG for Kylian Mbappe. He was the hero at the double in the first leg against Liverpool and played very well in El Clasico last weekend.

Real will probably give Vini some well-deserved rest against Getafe. Maybe Eden Hazard will make his return off the bench, but Vini’s replacement is expected to be fellow young Brazilian winger Rodrygo Goes.

Before his injury against Granada, Rodrygo was getting more starts on the left-hand side, which is his preferred position, and he was absolutely crushing it. Since returning from injury, Rodrygo has helped the team, but with Vinicius and Marco Asensio in better form, he hasn’t been afforded many starting opportunities.

That should change this Sunday. Rodrygo could have a field day on the left side of the formation, even considering that Damian Suarez is a very good La Liga right back. Real’s left winger has the dynamism, attitude, and final product to deliver a high-quality performance at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. I back him to do just that, and his talent gives me a great deal of confidence.

In 110 minutes as a starting left winger in back-to-back La Liga matches in late December, Rodrygo had an assist, four shots, four key passes, four dribbles completed, and one foul drawn, according to WhoScored.com. Those are great numbers, and I expect that kind of production across 90 minutes at Getafe.
