Real Madrid scored two late goals against Villarreal in the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium to clinch a 2-1 win over the Yellow Submarines. Los Blancos went a goal behind early in the first half from Yeremi Pino, but they showed resilience by coming back to win the game with the second-half goals from Karim Benzema and Luka Modric.

Real Madrid, unfortunately, did not win La Liga on the final match-day as Atletico took care of Real Valladolid.

Here is how the Real Madrid players performed.

Thibaut Courtois – 7/10

Courtois did not have much to do all game. He was confident coming out to claim aerial balls, and he did well to release the ball quickly when needed. He could not have done much on Villarreal’s goal.

Alvaro Odriozola – 6/10

Odriozola worked hard defensively and played well. His offensive contribution was not enough on the night.

Eder Militao – 6.5/10

Militao’s poor clearance led to the first goal. He positional stretched in the first half, but he still managed to cut off Carlos Bacca from possible one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He improved in the second half and did not let much past him.

Raphael Varane – 6.5/10

Varane returned from injury to marshall the backline in the final game of the season. Like Militao, he struggled positionally in the first half but tightened up in the second half.

Miguel Gutierrez – 6/10

The Castilla left-back showed heart and determination for the 67 minutes he was on the pitch. His defensive awareness was excellent, but he did not contribute much offensively.

Casemiro – 6.5/10

Casemiro has struggled for form in the final stretch of the season, and it showed in this game. He was still a major presence in the midfield with three tackles and three interceptions.

Luka Modric – 8.5/10

Luka Modric looked like the only Real Madrid player who wanted to win the game at times in this match. He carried the team offensively and completed three key passes. He finally got rewarded with the match-winning goal.

Fede Valverde – 7.5/10

Valverde’s energy and ball carrying ability often helped Real Madrid start attacking sequences. He completed five dribbles in the match.

Marco Asensio – 2/10

Asensio was almost non-existent. He barely got involved and did not offer anything.

Vinicius Junior – 3.5/10

Similar to Marco, Vinicius had a terrible game. Though, the Brazillian at least tried to take on players and create something.

Karim Benzema – 7/10

Benzema had an awful 80 minutes. His touches were heavy, and his passing and linkup play seemed underwhelming. However, he redeemed himself in the last 10 minutes with a brilliantly taken goal and an assist for Luka’s winner.
