Future of the Real Madrid Castilla talents

This has been a fantastic season for Castilla, with them practically overachieving under the management of Raul. A lot of talent has been unearthed, and as far as six Castilla players got the chance to play for the first team. Antonio Blanco, Miguel Gutierrez, Marvin Park, Sergio Arribas, Victor Chust, and Hugo Duro played some games for the first team, while Sergio Santos, Oscar Aranda, and Pablo Ramon received call-ups, but couldn’t get game-time.

Among this set of players, Miguel Gutierrez, Antonio Blanco, and Sergio Arribas look like favorites to get a promotion to the first team.

Miguel’s promotion might be the most probable one because Marcelo’s potential departure would create a vacant spot for the backup left-back role, which might be most probably occupied by the 19-year-old, who has managed to impress the manager and the club with his superb performances over the last few weeks.

Blanco has shown his potential in the two starts he got, and the club sees him as a solution for the position of a backup CDM, which has been vacant in the last two seasons. He is perfectly suitable for the position of a double pivot, but it is to be seen how well he can survive as a lone pivot. But irrespective of this, he has shown immense quality in the limited playing time he got, which makes it a no-brainer to promote him.

Arribas didn’t get a lot of minutes under Zidane, but Zidane trusts the Spaniard and he has definitely been Raul’s best player in attack. It is to be seen if the 19-year-old will be promoted, but he can be a great replacement for Isco, and his versatility to play as a winger or midfielder further strengthens his case.

The others might not be promoted, but talented players like Marvin and Chust should go out on loan and gain some precious experience because the club and Zidane do rate them high. And in Hugo Duro’s case, it is to be seen if the club buys the strike on loan from Getafe. But the striker has shown enough to convince the club that he can be a worthy buy.
