Real Madrid Transfers: The best outcome for Gareth Bale’s future
Gareth Bale has managed to turn over a new leaf in his career at Tottenham Hotspur. The Welsh forward has enjoyed a successful loan spell at Spurs after he left Real Madrid last summer on a single-year loan deal.
Bale, who had fallen out with Zinedine Zidane in the 2019/20 season had no other option but to leave the Spanish capital in search of game time after being ostracised in the title-winning campaign. His relationship with Zidane spiraled down over the years and hit rock bottom in 2019.
However, there has been no looking back for Gareth Bale since joining Tottenham. The 31-year-old came off the bench to score a double for Spurs over Leicester City in the final matchday of the Premier League to secure a 2-4 victory.
His efforts against the Foxes saw him register his 11th Premier League goal of the season despite playing just 920 minutes in the English top-flight. Not too bad for someone who was written off by everyone.
In fact, Bale has the best goal per minute rate in the Premier League this season, averaging a goal every 84 minutes. He has also managed to score more goals than the likes of Timo Werner, Edinson Cavani, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Richarlison this season despite playing just 10 matches if you consider the number of fixtures he has played.
Gareth Bale’s performance this season from the wings has also been something that Real Madrid have missed all season long. Zinedine Zidane’s decision to send him out on loan seems to have backfired in my opinion. As Bale would certainly have contributed significantly had Zidane ended the personal mess he had with the Welshman.
Nonetheless, Bale is set to return to Real Madrid after the Euro 2020 with Wales. However, the Welsh international has decided not to reveal his decision on his future to prevent unnecessary chaos, claims Sky Sports.
Does Gareth Bale really have a future at Real Madrid?
A report from AS claimed that Bale would return to the Spanish capital for his final season before his contract expires in 2022 and then hang his boots up for good. However, this may no longer be the case if Zinedine Zidane remains as the manager next season.
In my opinion, it seems like Gareth Bale and Zinedine Zidane have not gotten over their past altercations. Bale could even score thirty goals as a season, but Zidane would still have a reason to not play the Welshman.
If Zinedine Zidane does remain in charge then it is highly unlikely that Gareth would return. The 31-year-old would likely instead prefer a one-year extension at Tottenham Hotspur where he can become their talisman since Harry Kane is on the brink of an exit.
At the end of the season, Bale can end his career at a club that truly appreciates his efforts and has already achieved the status of a legend. Not that he is not a legend at Madrid but his antics on and off-field have not gone down too well with the fanbase.
However, if Raul or Allegri take over next season and assure Bale a prominent role in their project, his return is inevitable. Gareth Bale could potentially play out his final season wearing the royal white jersey and end his career at the Bernabeu as a thorough legend who has contributed immensely towards Real Madrid’s success over the years.
