Real Madrid spent 60 million euros in the summer of 2019 to sign a promising striker from Eintracht Frankfurt after undergoing a difficult 2018-19 season. In came a young Serbian named Luka Jovic in front of a packed Santiago Bernabeu for his presentation after a terrific individual season with Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and UEFA Europa League.

Before Jovic signed for Real Madrid, the Serbian scored a total of 27 goals in all competitions. 10 goals were in the Europa League where he scored against the likes of Inter, Borussia Monchengladbach, Shakhtar, and even Chelsea. The remaining 17 goals were scored in the Bundesliga,

Luka Jovic was a sensational talent and we all expected him to take off at Real Madrid. However, it has not panned out the way Jovic may have liked as Zinedine Zidane barely gave him the opportunities to prove his worth. With just two goals in one and a half seasons at Madrid, the 23-year-old has not done much to guarantee a future at the club, especially due to his high wages.

According to AS, Luka Jovic has once again re-emerged on the radar of AC Milan. The Rossoneri are looking into the option of signing Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud this summer and have shortlisted Jovic as plan B if they fail to sign the Frenchman.

Is AC Milan the only option for Luka Jovic of Real Madrid?

Milan were keen on signing Jovic earlier this year in January before he completed his return to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan. At Frankfurt, the Serbian did not enjoy his best spell but managed to score four goals and provide two assists in just about 1000 minutes in the Bundesliga.

AC Milan might just be Luka Jovic’s best option in Europe considering the fact that he’s barely played football during the last two years. Milan are currently undergoing a transitional period and Jovic could be that one signing the Rossoneri require.  Apart from AC Milan, it’s highly unlikely that any other “Top European” club would show interest in Jovic. They might just be his last and only resort.

There’s no report yet on whether Carlo Ancelotti has Luka Jovic in his plans for next season or not, however, Ancelotti could do with a striker of his quality next season. Karim Benzema will deservedly continue as the indisputable striker, however, Benzema is 33 and will need to be rested during lesser important games for when the fixtures come thick and fast later on in the season.

Luka Jovic is lethal in the box with both his feet and is also great at link-up play. He’s a gem of a player that Carlo Ancelotti can make use of this season, however, in the end, Real Madrid could consider parting ways with him due to his wages.

Los Blancos want a figure close to 30-40 million euros for the Serbian which might be difficult to get in this recessed market post-pandemic especially because of the lack of continuity that Jovic has experienced in the last two years.
