After 8 years and 16 trophies, Isco Alarcon might be finally leaving Real Madrid. The Spanish playmaker has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid in recent weeks, and this time the former Malaga man’s departure looks likely. One can say that Real Madrid might be around two years late in selling him because of his downfall since 2018, but better late than never.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid throughout the season, ever since he started seeing lesser minutes under Zidane in the 2020/21 season. There was some speculation of a move to Sevilla. The prospect of his reunion with Julen Lopetegui, a great fan of the Spaniard, made it sound realistic. But, the Sevilla Sporting director Monchi made it clear in February 2021 that Sevilla weren’t interested in buying him.

For some time it seemed like there wasn’t any interest in Isco – a player that the club wants to sell this summer – until some interest emerged from AC Milan. According to MARCA, AC Milan see Isco as a possible replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu, the No.10 who recently shifted to Milan’s city rivals Inter Milan. The Rossoneri are ready to offer €20 million for the player who has a year remaining on his contract.

At the moment the rumours don’t indicate any advanced talks, and top tier sources are yet to report the news, but some factors increase the speculation of Isco’s possible exit from Real Madrid. Isco didn’t show up for the first day of the pre-season camp citing personal reasons and Nacho’s chat with the fitness coach Antonio Pintus adds fuel to the fire, with Isco’s departure looking more likely than ever.

How much can Isco’s sale bring to Real Madrid?

Isco had a market value of around €90 million in the summer of 2018, when was considered to be one of the best attacking midfielders across Europe. But his value has slowly decreased in accordance with his form, and now he is worth €18 million, according to Transfermarkt.

According to the recent reports, Milan are expected to be offering around €20 million for the Spaniard, which is a decent amount for his talent. Real Madrid should be happy with his sale if they get €20 million for him, considering how much he has declined in the past few seasons. But there is a chance of losing him for lesser, given that his contract will expire in a year.

But one thing’s for sure, Real Madrid should try to sell him this summer. Considering his age and the fact that Real Madrid don’t consider him to be a part of their future project, they wouldn’t want to renew his contract. So it would be better to get the most out of him by selling him this summer, and avoid losing him for free in the summer of 2022.
