4. Real Sociedad ST Alexander Isak

The second man on the list is a friendly LaLiga face who made quite the impression with his Euro outings. So much that, my colleague Hasan wrote that he is indeed a man Real Madrid should keep tabs on. Karim Benzema aside, the forwards haven’t been able to make any real contribution to the club, and here’s where Isak comes in.

In my opinion, Alexander Isak would be a massive upgrade on Mariano Diaz as the second choice center-forward for Real Madrid. He scored 17 times in this past season with La Real and assisted twice. In the European Championship too, he managed two assists in his national side Sweden’s limited campaign and grabbed an overall rating of 7 for his performances in the tournament, per WhoScored.

There however are two issues standing between him and Real Madrid. The first among them is his role at the club. Isak is an important player to Real Sociedad’s lineup. He has started 30 matches among his 34 appearances for the club. But, at Real Madrid that position belongs to one man alone, Karim Benzema. So the question is if he’d negotiate for a more sporadic role for a better club crest on his shirt.

The second issue is his contract situation. His contract expires in the summer of 2026 and that is a long time which means La Real will have more influence over the deal and indeed have fewer reasons to less. He is currently valued at 40 million euros by Transfermarkt and the price is likely to escalate to 50 million euros’ ballpark. Even there, I’d say he is a great bargain to grab hold of and provide some quality backup to Karim Benzema.
