Richarlison to Real Madrid

Whenever managers move from one club to another, we usually get to see reports on how the manager wants to take one of his favourite players to his new club. Sometimes it is true, and the case of Sarri taking Jorginho along with him from Napoli to Chelsea is a prime example of it. But everytime they may not be true.

This time the player who is linked to Real Madrid is Richarlison, the Brazilian left-winger of Everton. This time it is being reported by Goal.com who report that Ancelotti wants the 24-year-old winger at Real Madrid, with Diario AS affirming the same. Richarlison is the third Everton player to be linked to Real Madrid after James Rodriguez and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who was linked with the club a few weeks ago.

Real Madrid needs to make reinforcements to their attack, which has struggled for the last three seasons with Karim Benzema being an exception. But the club isn’t at that stage where they will make a hasty decision and sign any winger available. The club has a particular target in Kylian Mbappe, and they don’t plan to set their sights on anyone else.

Richarlison belongs to the category of players Real Madrid are looking for. At the moment, the majority of Real Madrid’s current wingers are creative players, and Real Madrid are looking for an inverted winger who can share the goalscoring duty with Karim Benzema. Richarlison is of that type, but he is definitely not the best option available out there.

Richarlison is a decent player, but he scored just seven goals in the 2020/21 Premier League season. At a time when the club is looking for a player who can score 30 goals a season,  they shouldn’t look towards an option like Richarlison, who isn’t having a great Copa America campaign at the moment, either.

Coming to his value, a 100 million euro offer from FC Barcelona for the Brazilian was rejected by Everton once. With three more years remaining on his deal, Everton might ask for something more than the 100 million they once wanted. To think that Real Madrid can get Erling Haaland for 75 million euros next summer, one can easily hope that this rumour doesn’t come true.

Besides, why should Real Madrid consider signing a Brazilian winger who has some problems with his finishing, when they already have one such player in their ranks?
