Leonardo Spinazzola to Real Madrid

The final name on the list is Leonardo Spinazzola, the 28-year-old left-back of Roma. Currently, he is suffering from a ruptured Achilles tendon, an injury he picked up in the game against Belgium that could keep him out of football for more than six months. He is a top player, and hopefully, after recovering from his injury, he can play at the same level again.

But before his injury, he was linked to a lot of big European clubs, including Real Madrid. He was having a great campaign at the EURO 2020, and the rumours were understandable. But he is a left-back and Real Madrid already has many options at the left-back position as I mentioned in one of the previous slides.

Spinazzola isn’t like other left-backs. He is a right-footed left-back and his attacking style is different when compared to other players of his position. Real Madrid use a crossing scheme that involves left-footed left-backs, and the Italian might not fit well into the scheme of Los Blancos. And considering his defensive vulnerabilities, it is difficult to see him as a Real Madrid left-back.

Spinazzola has the ability to play as a right-back as well, but even if we consider that option, it wouldn’t really be a great idea because Real Madrid already have Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez and Alvaro Odriozola as options for the right-back position, with the club reportedly trying to sell Odriozola.

Diario AS reported the rumour of Leonardo Spinazzola to Real Madrid, but this time they gave an additional piece of information with thier report. They claimed that Luis Campos, the former sporting director of OSC Lille, participated in the discussion with Roma and represented Real Madrid after signing them.

Luis Campos has been recently linked with a move to Real Madrid during the summer, and the club might need a sporting director. Those rumours have been disapproved by the club President Florentino Perez and the Portuguese himself. I hope the Spinazzola part doesn’t come true, but I would love to see Luis Campos work for Real Madrid, with MARCA reporting that Luis Campos might be useful for the club in the Kylian Mbappe deal.
