Dani Olmo (Spain and RB Leipzig)

When everyone reads the name of Dani Olmo, the first picture that might to come to their mind would be of his penalty miss against Italy. He did have a disappointing end to the tournament, but he was one of Spain’s best wingers at the Euros, producing three assists in the competition, including the great pass for Alvaro Morata’s equalizer against Italy.

Olmo had a decent season with RB Leipzig, with him adding 7 goals and 12 assists to his tally in the 2020/21 campaign. He usually plays as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, but against Italy he played as a false nine, and any manager would like to experiment with his role given his superb qualities.

He loves to play off a striker and help the team to build an attack by occupying halfspaces and participate in the buildup with his linkup play. But he can also play as a winger and create dangerous chances. The former Barcelona academy player also has a habit of getting into dangerous goalscoring positions in the box and has decent finishing skills, but he isn’t exactly a goalscorer.

Olmo might not be the goalscorer Real Madrid are looking for, but he is highly skilled and is an excellent creative player with the ability to create a chance from tight spaces with his quick one-touch passing, or also with dangerous crosses from wide areas. Pace isn’t his main strength, but still, he is quick enough to be involved in a counter-attack. His work rate is fine as well, and if he works on his physique he can be even better.

At a time when Real Madrid’s Spanish contingent is becoming weaker, a Spanish player like Dani Olmo can be a great addition. According to a report from BILD, Real Madrid are indeed interested in buying the 23-year-old. If it comes true, it will definitely become a great signing for the club, and Carlo Ancelotti would love to have a player like him in the squad.
