Lack of Suitors For The New Real Madrid Captain:

It’s worth asking the question why Marcelo isn’t even on the transfer market, especially when the club continues to find ways to sell as many players as possible. The answer is quite simple: No one is willing to pay for him.

Marcelo’s contract ends next season and he is at a point in his career where the big clubs won’t be going for him while any of the ‘smaller’ clubs or teams back in Brazil will not be willing to pay a transfer fee for him when they can pay less (in transfer fee and wages) to younger and more versatile players. Therefore, Marcelo’s short-term future is at the club and they will be doing what they can to make the most of it. His past is not forgotten and his ability to lead this team is something that Ancelotti will definitely be using throughout the upcoming season.

Don’t expect Real Madrid to renew Marcelo’s contract though. The Brazilian will be expected to leave the club next summer. Whether he chooses to go back to Brazil or gets an offer somewhere else remains to be seen unless he decides to hang up his boots. So, the best advice I could give right now is to enjoy the final year of Marcelo and hopefully, he leaves the club with his head held high just like when he walked in. He deserves that and more.

Besides, there’s a lot we can expect from Marcelo going forward.
