3 free agents Real Madrid could still sign until end of August

JEROME BOATENG
Jerome Boateng left Bayern Munich following the end of last season after winning two trebles and a hat full of Bundesliga titles for the Bavarian side. The World Cup winner has a proven track record of delivering on the biggest of stages and has a reputation of being one of Europe’s best central defenders for the major part of the previous decade. Currently, he is a free agent.
Boateng is 32 years old and surely has another two or three years of football left in him. His fitness has never been a problem and he could be used as a first-choice option at the heart of defence as well due to his physical existence and aerial attributes. Just like most free agents in this part of the transfer window and the appended Maksimovic, Boateng’s power to bargain is low.
Moreover, it would not be very difficult for him to settle into Real Madrid, either. He knows David Alaba from his playing days at Bayern Munich, as well as Toni Kroos, who shared the national team’s dressing room with the defender as well for many years. To cap it all off, Carlo Ancelotti, who formerly coached Jerome Boateng at Bayern could help get the best out of him as well.
