MODRIC-CASEMIRO-ODEGAARD

One man’s misfortune is another man’s opportunity and Kroos’ injury will open the door to Martin Odegaard, whose future at the Santiago Bernabeu is a question that needs answering sooner rather than later. He spent the previous six months on loan at Arsenal and despite confirming the end of his spell via an Instagram post some weeks ago, the Gunners are keen on landing him during the summer. The possibility of a permanent sale is not ruled out, either.

The Norwegian creative midfielder will be an ideal option to replace Kroos in the eleven as well. He has some brilliant passing accuracy and if he can replicate his best form from either Real Sociedad or Arsenal, Ancelotti will not only have a selection headache for the time that Kroos is out for, but instead for the entirety of the campaign. Odegaard is under pressure from the Real Madrid fanbase to get minutes and prove himself, and a fresh opportunity could await him.

The only drawback with preferring Odegaard over Valverde is the fact that Real Madrid will lose upon a considerable defensive cover. He is not as good as Kroos or Valverde at cutting passing lanes or recovering possession. As a matter of fact, the less said about his defensive attributes- the better.
