Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale‘s situation is one of the most unsettling phases the club has seen in recent years. After being a key member in four champions league triumphs, the Welshman has had a steep decline. Injuries had a big part to play in this fall off from his peak.

After Cristiano Ronaldo departed the club, many expected Bale to take up the mantle as the talisman of Real Madrid. However, in the subsequent season, Bale was immensely disappointing.
The four-time Champions League winner couldn’t deliver much as Real Madrid had a dismal season. The lowest of the lows came in the latter stages of the 2019/20 season when Zidane entirely boycotted Bale. The following season, Tottenham rescued Bale by taking him on loan, and where he quietly impressed.

The Welshman has returned to Real Madrid again. While the club would like to let go of Bale this summer, his 30 million euro salary is proving overwhelming for other clubs. Therefore, this may be his final season with Los Blancos.

A lack of quality wingers will guarantee that Bale receives more playing time for the team next season. Given how well he performed under Ancelotti during the Italian’s first spell, Gareth Bale may have his final say on his illustrious Real Madrid career.
