GARETH BALE

Gareth Bale returns to Real Madrid at the back of a productive loan spell with Tottenham Hotspur wherein he struck 16 goals in all competitions. His first pre-season run with Real Madrid this season was a manifestation of his qualities and it is undoubtedly exciting to see the Welshman get back up to more or less his usual self, though he did miss a spot-kick against AC Milan last week.

Under Zinedine Zidane, he showed a very lack of interest at Real Madrid, but perhaps that was also on the Frenchman who openly wanted Bale to leave the club ahead of the 2019/20 season. With Ancelotti, a more senior figure – definitely so in Bale’s eyes – back in Madrid, one can expect him to create an impact on the goal getting front, but fitness remains a key factor.

He seemed to have put his injury issues to bed while at Tottenham and also most recently with Wales in the Euros, but players do tend to get injured at Real Madrid due to their hectic and intense training regimes. With Pintus sitting on Bale’s shoulders and reviving the former Spurs superstar’s fitness, he can surely help Madrid as he did in his debut season at the Bernabeu.
