3. Exploit the wider spaces on Levante’s right as much as possible

Real Madrid started their new signing, David Alaba on the left-back position who was a massive upgrade to their usual left-backs (Marcelo and Ferland Mendy). Alaba was impressive both in attack and while chipping in with his primary defensive duties. If the same arrangement is taken forward to the next matchday as well, which in my opinion, they should, Levante’s wider players could be up for a roasting.

According to SofaScore, Levante’s wide-man, Jorge de Frutos had a miserable game last time out where he was dispossessed for a total of 16 TIMES. The situation just behind him wasn’t too good either. The right-back, Son, was roasted by the Cadiz attack and he lost the ball a total of 20 TIMES. They both faired miserably in 1v1s too. So, safely concluding, the right should be the area for Real Madrid to penetrate.

This is yet more encouraging because we have already seen the havoc David Alaba can cause and, when paired against a set of wider players whose confidence would be on the recovery after an awful first game, there can only be one winner. The play on the wings has also seen a significant improvement from last season.

So the third and most significant key would be to try and penetrate the stubborn Levante defense from the right which was a major weak spot for them in the opening match. David Alaba, Eden Hazard, and then, either of our Brazilian wing-prodigies who’d join in the second half should have a clear homework done for their plans on the flanks.
