EDEN HAZARD – FORWARD

Real Madrid fans have been patient with Eden Hazard since he signed for the club in the summer of 2019. The club’s most expensive signing has not yet hit the ground running after incurring two injury-marred seasons.

This is Hazard’s third season at Madrid and the pressure to deliver has only multiplied. The 30-year-old had quite the international break with Belgium where he looked somewhere close to his best but had a decent outing against Celta Vigo on Sunday evening.

Real Madrid fans seemed to have applauded the 30-year-old when he was being substituted for Eduardo Camavinga. The applause from the fans seemed more like an encouraging statement from the supporters who still believe in the Belgium international.

Eden Hazard has not faced the wrath of Real Madrid supporters who are very much capable of being extremely harsh on underperforming players. The 30-year-old will have to amp up his performances as soon as possible or he certainly would be treated to whistles and boos from the stands.

At the moment, Hazard’s place in the starting eleven looks to be in doubt with Vinicius Jr surreal performances. Once Gareth Bale returns from his hamstring injury, Carlo Ancelotti might just opt to play Vini over Eden Hazard on the left-wing purely on the basis of their current form.

Hazard has not done much recently to secure a starting place over the Brazilian who has now scored four goals in four appearances. Time is running against Eden Hazard and something must be done as soon as possible.
