Real Madrid Femenino will get stronger as the season goes

Since Real Madrid made so many notable signings this summer, it will take some time for everyone to get on the same page. Already, we can see how the likes of Nahikari Garcia, Esther Gonzalez, and Caroline Moller Hansen need more minutes together before each of those three star players can be at their best in conjunction.

Last season, Real were good enough to qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League via their performance in Primera Iberdrola. Kosovare Asllani was vital in scoring goals, the likes of Maite Oroz and Teresa Abelleira were huge for the midfield, Olga Carmona and Kenti Robles formed one of the best fullback pairings around, Ivana Andres was an immediate superstar in defense, Misa is a future Real Madrid legend in goal, and Marta Cardona broke out as the team’s best overall player.

Only Sofia Jakobsson is gone among the notable players, but Real have certainly done enough to replace her missing presence.

As for Cardona, it’s unclear when she will be back for Real Madrid, but this team still has the quality to make it to the knockout stages without her. The light competition outside of PSG notwithstanding, there is a lot of star power in this attack. Esther was Primera Iberdrola’s top scorer last season. Asllani has been world-class for years. Garcia and Athenea are potential future world-class players, with Athenea already dropping jaws on the ball with her skill.

Las Blancas can only go up after their rough start to the league season, and their performances against Manchester City were just a sample of how good they can be.
