Antonio Blanco

We have all been waiting to see him play for the first team, haven’t we? The defensive midfielder has been very patient with Carlo Ancelotti as the manager. Blanco has been included in the matchday squad in each of Real Madrid’s matches this season but is yet to make an appearance- even as a substitute.

At the end of the last season, we saw Zinedine Zidane play Antonio Blanco replacing a tired Carlos Casemiro. And yes, Blanco filled Casemiro’s shoes perfectly. He was fast, strong, and spot on with his challenges. Even such a huge responsibility seemed a mere challenge to the Spaniard.

Ancelotti might think of it as a huge risk, but in my opinion, it is a risk worth taking. Why? Casemiro has been playing games very regularly. He not only seemed tired but also very clumsy in the last game against Valencia.

He made a lot of errors with his passing which could have proved to be very costly had Valencia made most of it. Also, with the number of poor challenges he had made, he did get a yellow card, while many argued that he should have rather be sent off.

With the next being a crucial game against Villarreal, Antonio Blanco is very likely to start, replacing Casemiro.
