DANI CEBALLOS

Dani Ceballos played for Arsenal on loan for the last two seasons and despite Real Madrid’s attempts of getting rid of him during the transfer window, he stays put in the first team, particularly owing to the major injury which he sustained during the Olympics in Tokyo this summer. In light of that, he is yet to attain full fitness for a single match this season.

Ancelotti knows the limitations of a 36-year-old Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, who suffered a major injury that kept him out for nearly two months this summer, and so Ceballos is definitely worthy of a chance. He is a very good player as was noticed under Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari during the 2018/19 season, but his turbulent relationship with Zinedine Zidane continued thereon.

Ceballos, unlike Martin Odegaard, was ready to stay and contend for a spot in the team this season, and that in itself deserves a few minutes. With a busy schedule on the horizon, he is bound to get his opportunities and those may make or break his career at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the ongoing campaign, as he is already somewhat a forgotten name amongst many of the fans.
