ALEX TELLES

With Marcelo all set to close his chapter at Real Madrid at the end of the ongoing season, it is clear that Real Madrid need to go for a left-back to compete with Ferland Mendy. Miguel Gutierrez is not the best of solution as he needs to brush up on some key attributes and for that reason, the club may not completely trust him to be a first-team player from the 2022/23 season either.

Telles has largely been a benchwarmer at Manchester United but at Real Madrid, he may have a fair few chances especially against teams which play a lower block in La Liga. Mendy struggles offensively and as a result, Madrid’s left flank is relatively easier to nullify but an offensive full-back like Telles will help in overcoming that issue, since David Alaba is exclusively a centre-back now in Madrid.

Alex Telles has not been able to succeed at Manchester United only because Solskjaer has not handed him enough chances, just like Donny van de Beek, but his qualities have been clearly visible whenever he has played. For that reason, Real Madrid could also sign him for a reasonable fee and quite possibly stare at a bargain if the Brazilian superstar is able to succeed in Spain.
