Real Madrid Transfers: 3 alternatives if Kylian Mbappe renews with PSG

In the upcoming decade or so in football, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland will have a rivalry which will succeed that of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The two forwards are lethal goal-scorers and all-round players from Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund, respectively. While Mbappe could well stay for longer at PSG, it is hard to imagine Haaland at BVB for long.
In 2022, his release clause of 75 million euros becomes active and that will lead to several clubs from across Europe queueing up for his services. Real Madrid will be among them irrespective of whether or not they are able to sign Mbappe. Haaland is likely to be a very expensive proposition too because Mino Raiola and the player’s father will demand a massive signing bonus.
Real Madrid’s priority is clearly going to be Mbappe, and because of that reason, Haaland may prefer heading elsewhere so that he can be the leader of a project all buy himself- something which won’t happen should he sign for Real Madrid alongside Mbappe. He is the best alternative for Mbappe in terms of quality and longevity, both, and is affordable too, though not comfortably.
Plus, if Haaland’s choice is related to the club’s sporting project, he probably won’t need to worry all that much.
