VInicius Jr has been a lot more important this season than we are giving him credit for. As my colleague Kevin explained in this article, most of what Real Madrid do in the final third relies on ridiculously good individual sequences from Vinicius Jr or Karim Benzema. It’s less about Real Madrid’s attack being better collectively and a lot more about Real Madrid’s attackers being better individually.
Vinicius Jr has outperformed most players in the world this season, and he’s doing it all at the age of 21. He’s taken a huge, huge leap this season, and that’s why Real Madrid’s higher-ups are thinking of giving him a renewal as soon as possible so that they’re able to keep him around for the foreseeable future.
Vinicius is one of the lowest-earning players at Real Madrid, and according to reports, Real Madrid are preparing a “Galactic” contract that is in sync with the level of his performances this season. Vinicius Jr, as he said in a recent interview, is not worried about his renewal, he just wants to keep playing for Real, keep improving as a player and help the team as much as he can in the process.
Now, according to ABC Deportes, there are a few details of Vini’s new contract that have been already decided.
Vinicius Jr’s contract will reportedly keep him at Real Madrid till 2028
Vinicius is considered “untouchable” at Real Madrid. There were reports a couple of years ago saying that PSG wanted Real to include him in the Mbappe deal, and the club straight up said no.
His future at Real Madrid has never been in doubt. His current contract is set to expire in 2024, and it’s best to start talking about an extension, which should happen at the end of the season according to this report. There is a long enough time between now and then, so that there is no panic among the negotiation, and there is time to agree on the little things as well as the important things.
It says that Vini’s current release clause is set at 700 million Euros, but that number could go up to 1 billion or even higher. It says in the report that he will earn at least 5.5 million Euros in his newer contract, which will run from 2022 to 2028. It is set to expire when he turns 28 years old.
Vinicius has never really raised any demands and just wants to play for the club for as long as possible. That and his performances week in and week out make it really important for the club to offer him a contract that really fits his newly-found superstardom.
Real Madrid consider Vinicius Jr to be a cornerstone of this team, and keeping him around should be a top priority for the club next season. There’s nothing else to it.
