After defeating Granada 4-1 and Sheriff 3-0 in their last two matches after the international fixtures, Real Madrid could have similar goal-scoring numbers against an even tougher opponent on La Liga’s Matchday 15.

Los Blancos will face Sevilla on Sunday night at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Andalusian club is third in the table and second in goal differential, with only Real Madrid besting them in both categories. Along with Atletico Madrid, Sevilla are one of the legit title contenders this year behind the Merengue club.

But despite having the second-best defense in the league behind Athletic Bilbao with just nine goals allowed, Sevilla could surrender quite a few goals to Real on Matchday 15.

According to El Chiringuito, neither of Sevilla’s starting center back duo Jules Kounde nor Diego Carlos practiced on Friday. They are both serious doubts for Sunday’s match at the Bernabeu, and if neither of them can play, that is a huge advantage for Real Madrid.

Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema should add to their goal tallies

Sevilla are already without Youssef En-Nesyri and Erik Lamela in the attack, with another star forward, Lucas Ocampos, now also a doubt for this La Liga fixture between two of the top four sides in Spain.

That means good news for Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema, and the Real Madrid attack if neither Kounde nor Diego Carlos can go. Even if one of them cannot play or neither is at 100 percent, that is a boost for Real.

We all know how Carlo Ancelotti has gotten more out of this attack, especially by helping Vinicius Junior find a true superstar level. Los Blancos have scored 32 goals in La Liga this season, which is nearly 10 more goals than the team in second. That team? Sevilla.

So Vini and Benz, who have 18 goals and 9 assists between them, can find the scoresheet on Sunday against a short-handed defense. Marco Asensio scored last weekend at Granada to add a fourth to his season tally, and he may also have more room to roam and score, given his more free role in the Madrid attack.

Los Blancos have an attack led by a world-class midfield, with Toni Kroos in fire form, and the front three could be devastating in front of goal if Asensio can keep building on his recent form. Benzema and Vinicius have been better than anyone else in the league to this point, and that also works in the favor of Real’s attack.

Diego Carlos and Jules Kounde form one of the best center back duos in all of Europe. They are the bedrock for this talented Sevilla side and are the tandem from which everything stems. Without them, Los Blancos could cruise to a season-defining victory to start a nightmarish schedule of late November and early December matches.
