Real Madrid is on a roll in the league. They are managing to secure victories in tough fixtures and are adding to their lead at the summit of the standings. Although, they were put to test by Sevilla and Athletic Club, the performance in a 0-2 away victory against Real Sociedad that too without Karim Benzema was a positive reaction from Los Blancos.
As good as the situation currently is, Carlo Ancelotti, indeed is struggling to rotate his squad as he would have liked. There are options, but they aren’t good enough or reliable enough. Anything below Real’s 100% side is a beatable side and the same cannot be the case going into another season and, with this same squad. The need is for more options.
As such, these three summer signings before the start of the upcoming 2022-23 season, can help Real Madrid overcome this problem. This is a very early analysis of positions that require a little more attention before Real Madrid can gear up for another season.
3. Sporting RB Pedro Porro
On number three, to kick start this list we have a player who has generated quite a reaction among the fans of top clubs hunting for a right-back at the moment. Madridistas too have had their say in Sporting’s Spanish fullback, Pedro Porro. He also appeared in our list of overlooked defensive targets. Moreover, as the club’s right-back situation currently is, I would say it is one of the top three priority positions that Real Madrid should move for in summer.
Originally a Manchester City player, Pedro Porro has spent a good chunk of his career traveling in different parts of the world and playing in different conditions during his loan spells. He is currently with the Portuguese Champions, Sporting CP until the end of his loan in June next year. Having started his football in Spain, he is someone well accustomed to Spanish Conditions and has played as recently as 2020 with Real Valladolid when he was on loan from Manchester City.
He really hit his fullest with Sporting when he played in a league-winning campaign. Keeping that aside, he has shown tremendous determination and proved that he is here to continue with his form. He already has two goals and an assist in the Primeira Liga so far from ten appearances and another goal in the Champions League, per WhoScored. He is also the squad’s second-highest rated defender after center-back Sebastian Coates (at least 10 appearances).
It is easy to understand why he is a crowd favorite. He is an extremely entertaining player to watch who possesses exceptional control with his passing. His strong suit is in playing long balls and taking set-pieces. His crosses are to drool over for and he provides plenty in the attack. He has averaged 1.3 in crosses, 1.7 in Longballs, and 1.2 in key passes per game this season in all competitions. No wonder, everyone is high on Porro right now.
