There has been a lot of news going around about Kylian Mbappe’s future. Some favor Real Madrid, some PSG. It’s just really nerve-wracking because you wouldn’t know for sure until a proper announcement comes around.

But recently, Jerome Rothen, who is close to Kylian Mbappe’s entourage, spoke on the whole transfer saga.

He mentioned that the relationship between PSG and Kylian Mbappe has improved, and that there was a 99% probability of him leaving, but now there’s only 65%. So, yeah, there’s that.

Even though the relationship with PSG has improved, it looks like Kylian Mbappe still prefers Real Madrid

Now, if we go solely by Rothen’s words, there is still a 65% chance Kylian Mbappe is a Real Madrid player before next season starts. Of course, it’s worse than the 99% probability the club supposedly had not too long ago, but it’s still a lot better than PSG’s chances of securing an extension with the player.

The Frenchman also said that PSG’s achievements this season will contribute to the decision that Mbappe will make. I think they’ll secure the domestic trophies, most, if not all of them. As for the Champions League, obviously, Real Madrid’s chances against PSG are looking very slim after recent performances, particularly the one vs PSG, where Mbappe established himself as the world’s best player.

But, even if I am pessimistic about the second leg, Real Madrid have what it takes to pull it off. They can absolutely knock PSG out. But, each player would have to drop an absolute masterclass of a performance, and they’d have to try their best to contain Mbappe. Only then do they have a real shot of winning the game. The thing is, though, the chances of players dropping masterclasses look really, really slim.

But even if PSG go through, one cannot be absolutely certain that they’d win it all considering there are some fantastic teams still in the competition.

While it’s definitely something Real Madrid need to keep in mind, it’s also something they don’t have any control over. At the end of the day, it’s Mbappe’s decision. We’ll find out in a few months what that decision is, but I hope it’s what I think it will be.
