Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema simply cannot be stopped

Karim Benzema, before this season, was 44 goals behind Raul to become the second-highest goal-scorer in Real Madrid history. I remember writing about his ability to break Di Stefano’s record this season but be just shy of Raul’s. Well, I won’t lie, he might just break Raul’s record as well.

The number nine now has 311 goals for Real Madrid in his 13 seasons at Real Madrid, and is just 12 goals away from Raul’s record of 323. Real Madrid will play at least 12 more games from now until the end of the season, so it’s definitely possible that if Benzema keeps going like this, he will break that record as well. I have no words for him. This guy is a behemoth. A legend that built on his superstardom after Ronaldo left, and showed everyone that he’s one of the greatest strikers of all time.

The way Benzema has been playing lately, just the way he’s been playing in general, it’s going to be a really, really big blow to Real’s chances of winning the Clasico if he’s not going to feature. At the same time, he must not be rushed back to fitness, because the 10 point cushion works in Real’s favor. Winning the Clasico is not as important as Benzema is to Madrid’s chances of silverware this season.

As for his teammate, Vinicius Junior, this guy’s on his way to becoming one of the greats as well. Vinicius has been on an absolute tear this season, scoring 16 goals and getting 10 assists, while also winning five penalties this season.

The statistics don’t even tell the whole story. He was racially abused by Mallorca fans in the first half, and he wasn’t being treated well by the opponents on the pitch, either. So, my guy channelled all his anger into his performance and made everyone regret their actions. Vinicius Junior and Benzema are going to form an insanely good partnership if and when Mbappe joins, and I cannot wait.
