5 reasons why you shouldn’t sleep on Real Madrid as Champions League contenders
The Santiago Bernabeu
Nights at the Santiago Bernabeu hit different when it’s the UEFA Champions League. The fans, however demanding, come out in full force and ready to help this team fight on. Even when under construction and not at full capacity, you can feel the stadium cheering the team forward. Opponents usually succumb to the pressure and understandably so. They are trying to keep a battle going against the most successful team in Europe while they’re being pressured by not only the players but every single fan there as well.
Fans make games. Real Madrid’s players and staff all know how important the fans are to the team’s success and when both worlds collide on a special night, it’s a sight you do not see too often.
We saw the fans in full force against PSG in the last round of the competition and even though they were doing their part in keeping the players fighting, it went up to unbelievable levels once Karim Benzema got the first goal. The second and third goals were not only for Benzema to take credit for but for the team and every fan that was there.
“90 minutes at the Bernabéu is a very long time” – Juanito.
