Maybe Florentino Perez is the one against Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard starting

Real Madrid forwards Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard had roles on the team to start the season, with Bale scoring against Levante and Hazard standing among the league’s best creators in terms of key passes.

But since then, Hazard and Bale have been pretty much phased out. Aside from getting starts as false nines with Karim Benzema injured, the minutes have been few and far between for the oft-injured forwards, who could both be on the way out this summer.

It has been puzzling to see how infrequently these two former stars are being used, because you’d think that Carlo Ancelotti would want to make use of them. Bale showed us that he still has something left for Wales against Austria, while Hazard has been key in matches, too, even scoring a matchwinner in the Copa del Rey against Elche.

The issue may not be Ancelotti, though. He may be receiving instructions from higher above, based on recent information.

Florentino Perez did not like it when Carlo started Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard

MARCA reporter Mario Cortegana recently said on “The Four Amigos Podcast”, via Madrid Xtra on Twitter, that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was angry with Carlo Ancelotti at the beginning of the season for starting Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale.

That could explain why Bale and Hazard have been so neglected in recent months. And it would make more sense for Perez to have this stance than Ancelotti. After all, Carletto is known as a player-friendly manager who favors veteran players. Why would he disrespect two legends of the game? Ancelotti, of all people, knows what Bale can do, and he surely has great admiration for the ex-Chelsea superstar, too.

Perez runs the show, though. What he says goes. Why he wouldn’t like these two, I do not know. But it could be related to his desire to get rid of their wages in order to fund a summer Revolution. After all, it seems that Real Madrid are taking the same strategy with a young forward on the squad, Luka Jovic, whose excellence against Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid seems as if it took place in another season altogether.
