Real Madrid fans are hoping for a busy summer 2022 transfer window. Although the Merengues have just secured their second LaLiga title in three years and still have a chance at reaching the Champions League Final, Madridistas are ambitious and know that with the right signings around Kylian Mbappe as this summer’s crown signing, Real can build another dynasty in European football. Complacency is not in this club’s DNA.

With the Erling Haaland transfer rumors subsiding and the Norwegian’s future seemingly already written in Manchester, Aurelien Tchouameni has become the top transfer target for Madridistas, seeing as how the Mbappe and Antonio Rudiger deals are already done.

The Tchouameni transfer should be important to Madrid, but it will not be an easy operation. Monaco will ask for a high transfer fee, and they will be able to start a bidding war with clubs like PSG, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United linked.

But it seems as though Tchouameni really wants Madrid. For their part, the Merengues also seem very, very interested in Tchouameni, perhaps more than any other target besides Mbappe.

Real Madrid rate Aurelien Tchouameni highly

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, via MadridXtra on Twitter, Real Madrid have actually scouted Aurelien Tchouameni a whopping five times during the 2021/22 season. Fab says that Tchouameni is “highly rated” by Madrid.

That should not come as a huge surprise, but with so many pessimistic reports regarding Real’s chances of signing Tchouameni and doubts regarding the urgency of their pursuit of the Ligue 1 star, this report from Romano is a comforting one.

Real Madrid know how good Tchouameni is. They have been interested in him for years, dating back to 2020 when Zinedine Zidane was in charge but could not make any signings at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Quietly, Real signed Eduardo Camavinga at a bargain price last summer after their consistent interest in the Frenchman. Tchouameni won’t be as cheap, but don’t be surprised if the pessimistic reports give way to a sudden signing. The defensive midfielder is very much on the radar as the Merengues’ next No. 6.
