Real Madrid believe they can get another transfer bargain in midfield

Real Madrid made two of the best signings in the summer 2021 transfer window, investing a total of 30 million euros in transfer fees to snag David Alaba and Eduardo Camavinga. Both players have been standouts for the Merengues this season, with Alaba ranking among the best center backs in Europe and Camavinga already establishing himself as a big-game player as a teenager in the midfield.

This summer, Los Merengues will have to invest significantly more money, but they are still confident in their ability to snap up some of the best bargains on the transfer market. Already, they will sign Antonio Rudiger for free, and Kylian Mbappe is fully expected to join him on an even more marquee free transfer shortly.

According to a report from Marco Ruiz of AS, Real Madrid are now confident they can get Aurelien Tchouameni for cheaper than the 70 million euros Monaco are asking from clubs this summer.

Their confidence stems from Tchouameni’s desire to move to Madrid, as they believe he and his agent can push Monaco into selling “Tchou” to the Merengues for between 50 and 60 million euros.

(One thing I would mention is that variables could push the deal up to 70 million euros anyway.)

Aurelien Tchouameni would be a steal at 60 million euros or less

Tchouameni is the only viable long-term replacement for Casemiro on the transfer market and is already one of the best midfielders in Europe. He is the best player Real Madrid could sign in midfield when looking at his age, skill-set, fit, and upside. Naturally, he will not be cheap, but if Real can indeed sign him for 60 million euros or less, they could be getting a steal. We are talking about a player who could be worth 100 million euros in transfer value in a few years, due to the scarcity of great defensive midfield anchors with his ball security and on-the-ball skill.

Real Madrid were able to sign Eduardo Camavinga for just 30 million euros last summer from Rennes despite significant interest from PSG and Manchester United. Camavinga chose Real’s offer for less money, and it seems as though the Merengues believe the latest Ligue 1 sensation will do the same.
