As the months drag on without anything resembling an official announcement, some Real Madrid fans are getting antsy about the Kylian Mbappe transfer.

Others, of course, remain calm, operating under the belief that Mbappe will be coming no matter what, as Florentino Perez likely had things agreed if his past history is anything to go by.

There was a brief scare earlier this week when Le Parisien reported that Mbappe had signed a two-year renewal with PSG, but that was quickly refuted by more reliable news outlets, as well as Mbappe’s mother Fayza Lamary.

(You have to think that Mbappe’s family is sick of this saga by now, with Nasser Al-Khelaifi and his camp likely fueling a lot of these bogus rumors to put the young forward in a bad spot.)

The latest update on the Kylian Mbappe front from a reporter with a good track record, Jerome Rothen of RMC Sport, is that the PSG No. 7 will have a meeting with Real Madrid next week.

Real Madrid beating PSG was the best advertisement to Kylian Mbappe

Rothen says that Mbappe has not officially come to a decision due to his attachment to PSG, but he is indeed closer to leaving than staying because of the sporting project conditions that the Qatari-owned club have yet to meet.

Mbappe will surely not forget how Real Madrid knocked PSG out of the Champions League, with the young Frenchman himself standing out as the only player who seemed to want to turn the tie in PSG’s favor. He was his team’s clear star man, whereas Neymar and Lionel Messi, to call out the team’s two highest-paid players, floundered woefully on the big stage against the Merengues.

Therefore, Los Blancos have the superior sporting project. With young stars Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, and Rodrygo Goes balling out and completing yet another improbable comeback, they have the nucleus of up-and-coming players around Mbappe that PSG cannot offer him. Aside from Achraf Hakimi, they don’t have an ascending superstar besides Mbappe himself.

We shall see what this meeting between Real Madrid and Mbappe brings, but Madridistas have every reason to believe that the former Monaco man will be headed to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
