Real Madrid seem poised for a busy summer 2022 transfer window after only spending 30 million euros in the past two summer windows. That was, of course, money well-spent, as Real made the signing of the summer by nabbing David Alaba on a free, and the 30 million euros were spent on another bargain in Eduardo Camavinga.
Although Los Blancos signed one of the world’s best young midfielders for cheap in Camavinga last summer, they are still hoping they can sign another bargain in midfield this year.
Aurelien Tchouameni is one of the world’s best midfielders already, and he furthered his reputation with a brace to lift Monaco to a 2-1 win over Lille this past Friday, adding seven interceptions and other impressive stats to go with the goals.
It won’t be easy to get Tchouameni at a bargain price, as top Premier League clubs and Monaco’s Ligue 1 rivals PSG are very interested in the defensive midfielder.
However, Real Madrid seem to have an early advantage. Everything indicates that Tchouameni wants to join the Merengues, but there is a recent report that makes this desire seem even stronger.
Real Madrid have a clear path to signing Aurelien Tchouameni
According to Ramon Alvarez, via Infinite Madrid on Twitter, Aurelien Tchouameni is “dying” to play for Real Madrid. Therefore, it is entirely Real’s decision if they want to sign the player this summer.
Let’s break that down a little bit, because it does seem hyperbolic.
Tchouameni pretty clearly wants to join Madrid, even though he may have an easier path to playing time at other clubs. The way Real have played in the Champions League this season has been beyond inspiring, and Tchouameni knows he has the chance to fill Casemiro’s shoes. What a next step, right?
Real should do everything they can to sign him, of course. Tchouameni is just 22 and already a top-class midfielder. He can do it all in midfield, including, as we saw against Lille, score great, match-winning goals from nothing.
An elite defender, Tchouameni is the best option to replace Casemiro in the future – by far. The issue is that everyone knows how good he is, and Monaco may not sell him for less than 70 million euros. Real Madrid should have the money to do that, but will they? That’s the question, given how little Florentino Perez has spent lately.

If you ask Madridistas, there is no question whatsoever. Sign Tchouameni and do it as soon as possible before someone else potentially swoops in.
