Dortmund want to sign another in-demand Real Madrid prospect
Although Reinier Jesus’ loan to Borussia Dortmund has been an absolute disaster due to the comically few minutes the Brazilian attacker has played, the relationship between Real Madrid and the Black and Yellows of the Bundesliga remains as strong as ever.
Dortmund tried to push Haaland to Real Madrid, though both the Merengues and the striker ultimately decided that it was best to delay a potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
But the business between Dortmund and Madrid may just be getting started. Not only has Luka Jovic been linked to an unlikely move to the Signal Iduna Park, but BVB have concrete interest in a promising Merengue player.
Dortmund are among the teams who want to sign Sergio Arribas on loan
According to a report from Manu de Juan of AS, Real Madrid forward Sergio Arribas is earning significant interest around Europe as a potential loanee, which comes as no surprise. He has been a star for Castilla this season and was even a first-team player in 2020/21 under Zinedine Zidane, impressing Madridistas with his composure.
Dortmund is one of the clubs interested in acquiring Arribas’ services. They have secured Karim Adeyemi, who is a long-term target of Madrid’s, and could even play Youssoufa Moukoko on the right wing to accommodate a different striker as Haaland’s replacement. (Moukoko is a Real Madrid target, too, by the way.)
So there would be the same concerns about Arribas finding his place, just as there have been for Reinier. However, Arribas could also play in the midfield in Dortmund’s system, which would be an intriguing option. We saw how Achraf Hakimi flexed his versatility in the Bundesliga during his wildly successful two-year loan spell with Die Schwarzgelben.

Arribas needs to take the next step in his career, and there does not seem to be space for him in the Real Madrid first team. Dortmund would be a massive step, but would it be too big of a step? It seems like it was for Reinier, who arrived in Madrid with a 30 million euro price tag and more hype. That said, Arribas has a strong track record with Castilla, so this is a potential loan transfer for Madridistas to watch carefully.
